Havana Café

Havana café, in Old Ottawa South is responsible for some highly delicious Cuban creations:

This one is a Classic Cuban Sandwich – Roast Pork, Ham, Swiss Cheese, Mustard and Pickles.  Those golden delights beside it is Yucca.  Salty, delicious Yucca.

And then there’s the Club, which comes with Chicken, Roast Pork, Avocado Cream, Lettuce, Tomato and Mayo.

Cuban Club

Have to say, the bread on these sandwiches is perfect.  Very fresh, but also has a nice crust.  (But not so crusty that it hurts your mouth.  Hate that!)

It opened in the last year, and I’ve been a half dozen times since.  At least.  Might be undershooting that one a little bit.  But it is consistently delicious, and the owner always seems genuinely happy to see you.  GO!

UPDATE:  Another visit and the deliciousness continues.

The owner suggested squeezing a bit of fresh lime into the soup and he was absolutely right.  The soup was amazing. AMAZING.

Black Bean Soup

The special of the day happened to be pulled pork sandwiches.  Not what you typically find in BBQ places, but this one included Cuban roasted pork, avocado and an au jus that the giant buns sopped up.  Damn.

Yucca was essential as well!  I just can’t pass it up.
